This assignment was a little bit challenging for me because I am a terrible photographer. I downloaded the Stop Motion Pro app. My first idea was to make a GIF from a piece of fabric that I knitted, kind of like showing the direction of the knitting machine and how the fabric is knitted one part after the other. The way to do so was the other way around, at first, I took a picture of the all garment and then I ripped out the first part and so on. The last picture is actually the first and vice versa.
Next, I decided to try to manipulate the frame by taking only one picture and each frame to choose a different part of the picture. I used one of my old drawings of cotton flowers, each frame the flowers keep growing.
I wanted to test the option in the app of editing the frame, I took a picture of a drawing of mine as the main frame and I duplicated it, but on top of every frame I wanted to show the fabric of it. It is a Jacquard technique so I basically wanted to show the process of how I can knit a fabric out of a drawing. I took a picture of the fabric and in each frame of the drawing I chose a different part of the fabric.
Then, I thought about the transformation of patterns, I used an old patterns I did in undergrad with the Asher geometry techniques and in a way it resembles exactly how you create a GIF.
I drew some fashion illustrations with my pen on the Photoshop app and saved every frame as a different image and those images I opened in the Stop motion pro app.
At last, I did a GIF of a snake game and used my favorite candy, gummy bears
