After figuring out how I want to continue developing my SKN, I will try to describe my goals and plan for this class.
My dream for this project is to solve the problems of studying knitting online. Finding a solution for students and instructors to learn and teach in a more efficient way. I imagine that these needles could also teach people how to knit.
If you want to learn hand knitting you will not need to search for Youtube videos anymore you just need to buy the SMK and download the app.
My vision for this project is to create knitting needles that will sync with the visuality of the fabric. Implement and test those needles in universities that teach knitting and create a new form of studying online that will improve communication between students and instructors. This system could also teach people, not necessarily textile students, that want to learn hand knitting.
My goal for this project is to finalize in the most accurate way possible the fabrication of the needles and make this product aesthetically pleasing. I want to find a way to hide the wires which are now covering the needles and interrupting the movement. In terms of coding, develop a connection to the server side and explore how I can send feedback.
My plan for the next 10 weeks: Feb 14 - Research and testing electronic components to complete the fabrication
March 7 - Research on the backend and server side (contacting Shiffman for help)
April 1 - Create the first prototype
April 14 - Users testing
April 21 - Second prototype? (depend on the conclusions from the user testing)
April 28 - Documenting and video editing (presentation design)
