Textile interfaces workshop

Digital switches:

Superwomen switch

Fabric switch

Knitted ball switch

Analog sensor

Crochet knitted strawberry filled with conductive wool that plays music

I used the assignments we had in the p.comp lab and instead of using the FSR sensor I created the sensor from the strawberry and connected it to the Arduino

Textile Interface Final Prototype - Smart Glove

After a lot of calculations I figured out the shape of the glove that I wanted. I wanted it to be easy to use and closed, the hand should be locking the movement so it would resample an orthopedic glove

The knitting process was not easy, I had to try a few times until it worked and also the conductive yarn was a pretty hard one to use in the industrial machine, so I had to use a special way to insert the yarn into the machine

Finally, once the shape was done, I had to attach a switch button that will control the circuit, by using a fabric silver button I attached all the wires and the conductive yarns together and connected it to the battery (the conductive yarn is located through the all garment).

I didn't want any touch of the circuit in the human body so I used pure Marino wool to create an inside layer to the glove, I used wool because it has an ability to preserve the heating. The way to wrap the glove around the hand is with fabric velcro.

I created a pocket for the battery so I could have a direct link to the circuit

I needed to test to see if the glove is actually getting heated after pressing the button and to how many degrees it gets, the only way for me to show it since I don't have a thermal camera is by using a thermometer.
